Aperiodic was inspired by Ammann-Beenker tiling and is a fun non-traditional block-based quilt. While blocks are used, their placement doesn't repeat in an obvious pattern, making this quilt feel more akin to a puzzle. There are plenty of diagrams, check lists and labels to help you make your own stunning Aperiodic quilt.
Pattern variations
The pattern comes with instructions for either a 2-colour or 5-colour version, and 3 sizes: small throw (50" x 50"), large throw (67.5" x 67.5") and bed (94.5" x 94.5").
Note: The pattern does not include explicit instructions for doing multi-coloured stars as shown in the 5-colour small throw photo, although the pattern is easy to adapt to include them. It also does not include instructions for @thequiltsmith's version - that was her own creative interpretation of the pattern.
Difficulty: Advanced beginner.
There are a lot of flying geese, but I've given plenty of extra room to make trimming a breeze. The pattern also requires organization, but if you use the provided labels, you should have no problem keeping track of all the blocks.
